Happy Friday everyone! Molly here – one of the newest members to join the CoinCorner team. I thought I’d start my first blog post with a quick introduction about me and then take a look at what has been happening at CoinCorner HQ over the last month (April).
So, a quick introduction about me…
Hello, I’m Molly and I am the Marketing Manager at CoinCorner.
Things I like: Cake, ice cream and silly dancing (only when nobody else is around).
Things I don’t like: The gym (but I do it to burn off all the cake and ice cream), spiders and Mr Bean (sorry Rowan Atkinson).
I said it would be a quick introduction and I have lots to write about, so that’s enough about me for now! Time to get down to business…
The CoinCorner Team Grows!
April saw the CoinCorner team continue to grow. Both myself and Duncan were taken on – me, in the role of marketing and Duncan as a senior developer. Duncan is currently part time, but only until July and then he will become a fully-fledged member of the CoinCorner family.
The Isle of Man Government Introduces New Regulation for Bitcoin Businesses
The next big thing to happen (after the arrival of Duncan and I, obviously) was that the Isle of Man Government introduced a new regulation on 1st April which now means that bitcoin businesses operating from the island have to comply with the island’s anti-money laundering laws. The new regulation stems from amendments made to the Proceeds of Crime Act 2008 in order to accommodate digital currencies like bitcoin. You can read more about it here.
CoinCorner is the first cryptocurrency company in the world to fall under the Proceeds of Crime Act on the Isle of Man. Having the Government formally acknowledge cryptocurrency is a global first!
We Welcome Our First Charity On Board
Sleeping Angel Wood, a local Manx charity, has started accepting Bitcoin as an alternative way to donate on their website with CoinCorner Checkout. Take a look at their donations page to see how this works!
It’s very easy to integrate CoinCorner in to your eCommerce business using a simple plugin or our API for your Bitcoin donations/payments. For more details, check out our CoinCorner For Business page on our website.
BBC Business News Interviews Charlie
Charlie was contacted by BBC Business News about being interviewed for a feature they we doing on Bitcoin and the Isle of Man.
Charlie spoke to Zoe Kleinman about being the island’s only Bitcoin exchange and what the new regulations recently brought in by the Isle of Man Government now mean for digital currency businesses operating from the island.
Other (not-so) Important News from April
Oreo ice cream sandwiches. Enough said.
And that’s all from me today. It’s very nearly the weekend (well, depending on where you are in the world, it might already be the weekend) so have a good one!
